This Ramayana is taken from the Devi Purana and sings the glorifies of the great cosmic Shakti aspect of creation.

The author has brought to life the greatness of the divine mother and cosmic goddess, Durga who in the Ramayana was responsible for slaying the demon king Ravana in Lanka by Lord Ram. Lord Ram had worshipped the Divine Mother Durga, who manifested as the cosmic mother representing the powerful forces of Nature. She restored the balance of righteousness over evil and caused the forces of good to arise when she slayed the ten headed demon Ravana.

The ten days when Lord Ram worshipped the Goddess Durga became known as the auspicious nine days of Navaratri which culminates in Dushara on the tenth day. The Goddess is worshipped and honored throughout India during the festival days known as Navaratri and Dushara. This Ramayana relates how the Goddess can be worshipped during this period and contains the stories and sacred hymns dedicated to her.
